Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer

Mr John Welborn was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on 1 July 2015. Mr Welborn is a Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia, is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mr Welborn is a Director of the World Gold Council (appointed 2017), a non-executive director of Equatorial Resources Limited (appointed 2010), and Chairman of Orbital Corporation Limited (appointed 2014).
Mr Welborn is Chair of the Environment and Community Development Committee and the Safety, Security and Occupational Health Committee.
Chief Financial Officer
Mr Stuart Gale was appointed Chief Financial Officer effective 20 January 2020. Mr Gale was most recently Group Manager Corporate Finance for Fortescue Metals Group Limited (FMG). Since joining FMG in 2010, Mr Gale has been responsible for FMG’s funding, risk, and treasury functions as well as statutory, management and project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable and investor relations programs. During FMG’s expansion period, Mr Gale ensured robust systems and processes were developed and implemented in addition to co-ordinating external and internal finance functions. More recently, the development of FMG’s refinancing strategies to result in a low cost, flexible, long dated debt portfolio that supports the company’s ongoing growth has been part of Mr Gale’s role. Mr Gale has strong global relationships with banks, ratings agencies, shareholders, debt holders and investors that will be highly beneficial to Resolute.
Prior to his career at FMG, Mr Gale held senior executive positions at Wesfarmers including Chief Financial Officer of Wesfarmers Energy Limited and General Manager Group Accounting at Wesfarmers Limited. Mr Gale is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Fellow of Leadership Western Australia.
Acting Chief Operating Officer
Mr David Kelly joined Resolute in 2016 as General Manager – Corporate Strategy and is currently Acting Chief Operating Officer responsible for all aspects of the Company’s operations and projects. An experienced geologist and Company Director, Mr Kelly has served in various senior executive roles in the resources sector for the last 30 years including as an investment banker and corporate advisor. Currently a non-executive director of ASX listed Predictive Discovery Limited, Mr Kelly has previously served as a director of Ridge Resources Limited, Renaissance Minerals Limited and Pacific Ore Limited.
General Counsel & Company Secretary
Ms Amber Stanton is a corporate lawyer and was appointed as General Counsel / Company Secretary in August 2017. Prior to joining Resolute, Ms Stanton was a partner at two international law firms, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, energy and resources and general corporate and commercial matters. Ms Stanton was the WA winner of the 2011 Telstra Business Women’s Award (Corporate and Private Sector) and is a director of the Liver Foundation of Western Australia.
General Manager – Exploration
Mr Bruce Mowat joined Resolute in 2011 and is currently General Manager – Exploration, responsible for the Company’s exploration and development programs in Australia, Africa and other jurisdictions. Mr Mowat has spent 30 years exploring for and finding gold and base metal deposits in Australia, PNG, Indonesia and West Africa and has held senior positions in a number of companies. Prior to joining Resolute Mr Mowat was Chief Geologist for Straits Resources.
General Manager – Business Development & Investor Relations

Mr Jeremy Meynert joined Resolute as General Manager – Business Development & Investor Relations in 2018 and is responsible for the Company’s transactional corporate development activities (acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, capital raisings) and investor, analyst and media relations functions. Mr Meynert is a specialist metals and mining investment banker with extensive international experience in corporate transactions, asset acquisition and divestment and global capital markets. Mr Meynert is a qualified lawyer with a Bachelor of Laws (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honours) from the University of Western Australia, a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law and a Master of Mining Engineering (Mine Management, Excellence) from the University of New South Wales.
